I heard the Vogue is closing in December. Apparently the owner of the space wants to up the rent by a ridiculous amount, so they need to find a new place or close down.
<soapbox>
Hurray for all the Bridge-and-Tunnelers who made Sugar such a screaming success, so all the other venue owners think they can do the same. I live on Cap Hill and think I'll start going to the East Side to pee on their streets and puke on their sidewalks and yell REALLY LOUD at 2am.
</soapbox>
Anyway--anyone have more info about the Vogue? The Merc has become just a den for smokers and gawkers. And the new Juju sucks. I really hope the Vogue can stick around.

Tue, October 31, 2006 - 9:48 AMI wish they would take over one of the vacant spaces on Broadway, like where the Safeway and QFC used to be.

Re: Vogue closing?
Mon, November 20, 2006 - 3:33 PMCurrent plan for the Vogue is for it to close in its current location, then the owners will lease the big room at CHAC (Capitol Hill Arts Center) on 12th next to the liquor store.
The new "club" will be called Blacklight.
It will be open starting at 10:30 pm after other activities (theater, etc) at CHAC are concluded.
They're hoping to get this off the ground by the end of January. -

Re: Vogue closing?
Mon, November 27, 2006 - 4:06 PMHey, I'm one of those bridge people, and so are a couple of Vogue employees. I think I speak for them when I say that Sugar's nasty plastic. Sugar's location seems to be cursed, though, so take heart. Vive la Vogue.
